champaign landmark, inc. During the early 1930’s and in the midst of the Great Depression, Champaign County Farm Bureau members were experiencing the increasing need to lower production input costs and find better prices for their grain. In March of 1934 the members formed the Champaign County Farm Bureau Cooperative Association, later known as Champaign Landmark. Champaign Landmark is a farm supply and marketing cooperative. Through this cooperative, producers are able to utilize their buying power and source to reduce production cost and have a better price for their grain. The services the cooperative provides to its customers include crop protection and grain marketing. The cooperative also buys input supplies collectively to reduce cost. They include: fertilizer, VRT, GPS, feed, pet supplies, petroleum, propane, and oils & lubricants. It also has a tire center where members do their tire services. Champaign Landmark has 140 employees serving its 1,900 members. Many of the employees have been with the cooperative for more than 10 years. The members of Champaign Landmark are farmers. The customers are farmers and rural and urban residents. Most of the members and customers are from West Central Ohio. They are continually adapting to serve a growing “urban” market with products, such as propane, at competitive prices made possible through their cooperative affiliations. As agriculture continues to change to fewer and larger farms, Champaign Landmark has also changed and adapted its products and services to meet the needs of each. Also, mergers and acquisitions of area farm supply and grain merchandising facilities continue to decrease the number of suppliers. Yet the members and customers of Champaign Landmark are expecting more and better products and services at competitive prices. It is the mission of Champaign Landmark, Inc. through the efforts of dedicated employees, to be the supplier and marketer of choice, whose goal is to assist in improving the customer’s bottom line. This is done in a manner that is profitable while being a good steward of the environment and a welcome neighbor in our communities. Company
