The Bexley Natural Food Market

The Bexley Natural Market was started in the winter of 1977, by six mothers who wanted a place where natural foods could be concentrated and easily available. The Market began as a buying club, but by July of 1977 the group rented a space to open a retail store. Twenty eight years later the co-op still occupies the same space.

Currently, The Bexley Natural Market provides a full selection of natural and organic foods, health and beauty aids, nutritional supplements, homeopathic remedies, household cleaning supplies, and books. The co-op also carries clothing, specialty items, and hard to find products. The Bexley Market is considered a "clearing house" in their community for information concerning alternative health and food safety issues, as well as environmental causes. The staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable about the products as well as issues affecting the customers, and enjoy assisting them with any questions or concerns.
The Bexley Market's customers represent the diversity of Columbus and the surrounding community. Because they are the only co-op serving the eastside of Columbus, Bexley Market's customers range from homemakers to athletes. Additionally, the co-op is centered with a large immigrant population, and caters to the needs of people from many cultures and ethnicities.

In addition to the broad range of products offered in the retail store, the co-op host a Farmers Market which allows growers to sell directly to the consumer. The co-op also host many informational, theme- based activities throughout the year. Bexley Natural Market provides above all else, the spirit of community and friendship to members and customers.
